Every other app only counts up. That is why the number stops meaning anything.
Words rot if you stop using them
A word you said once decays five points a day. A word you own decays half a point. Come back after two weeks away and your number will have fallen — because your Mandarin has.
Words the AI gave you don't count
Ask for a word and it is stuck at Shaky until you use it yourself, days later, unprompted. You can farm it. Only by waiting, which is how memory works.
Sessions score nothing
Everything runs on a clock, never on sessions, so closing and reopening the app buys you nothing at all.
There isn't one
You open it and someone starts talking to you.

Broken Chinese with English mixed in is fine. That is what a beginner sounds like. English just doesn't pay.

Your voice stays on your phone
Speech is recognised and spoken on the device itself. No recording is uploaded, stored, or sent to a speech company. There is nothing to leak because there is nothing kept.
