Yappable is a voice-first Mandarin app. This page says exactly what it collects, where that sits, and what never leaves your device.
Your voice never leaves your device
Speech recognition runs inside your browser. The model is downloaded once and the recording is transcribed on your own machine. No audio is uploaded, stored, or sent to any speech service — ours or anyone else's. The spoken reply is produced by your operating system's own voice.
What we store
- Your email address and name, from Google sign-in.
- The text of your side of the conversation, and the coach's replies.
- Your scores: words known, word strength, XP, streak, and seconds spoken each day.
This sits in a Supabase Postgres database hosted in Singapore, and is readable only by your own signed-in account.
Google sign-in
Signing in is the only way to use Yappable. We ask Google for your email address, name, and profile picture, and nothing else. We never ask for access to your Gmail, Drive, contacts, or calendar, and we do not post anything anywhere on your behalf.
The AI coach
To answer you, the text of the recent conversation is sent to DeepSeek, the model provider that runs the coach. Your email address and name are never sent with it.
What we do not do
We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers. There are no advertising or analytics trackers on the site.
Deleting everything
Email shaunbntan@gmail.com and your account and every score attached to it are deleted. No conditions.
